On Mother's Day

MOTHER-

THE EPITOME OF LOVE AND AFFECTION

Man is the most intelligent of all animals on earth. Its superiority over all other animals has been proved again and again. But what can we attribute to this superiority to? This superiority is the result of intelligence compounded with some virtues. These virtues have given rise to humanity. And one aspect that stands above all the other attributes of humanity is, love. Love is common even with animals. There are different types of love, but the greatest among them is the motherly love or the love of a mother.

Nobody is capable of loving a mother in the same way a mother loves her child. In fact, what Gandhiji said, “As god cannot be present everywhere; he created Mother to take care of her children. All mothers are born only to love.” An ugly man, a cripple, a criminal, whatever a person might be, he will always be loved by his mother. A mother derives endless joy from her child. She prides herself on her child.  So a child sleeping on the lap of his/her mother has interested the painters of all ages.

The Italian Renaissance painter, Raphel’s famous work, “THE MADONA AND THE CHILD”was followed up by many artists who produced their own paintings on the same topic.

It would be however wrong to say that a mother loves only the child to whom she has given birth. Numerous example can be cited which clearly indicate the fact that a mother might also love a child whom she hasn’t given birth. Coming across the history, we find Romulus and Remus, who as babies, were left alone in the forest to be killed by the wild animals. But fortunately they were saved by the animals and were grown up by a wolf. When they grew up they found the city of Rome.

Recently a photograph in all the leading dailies showed a kitten fed on the milk of a dog along with other puppies. The rivalry between a cat and a dog is well known to us. But the mother dog understands the plight of the kitten that has lost its mother; or does not recognize her mother. Even belonging to different species does not hinder motherly love.

So what better examples can we find, which depicts a mother’s love better than this?

TODAY IS ‘MOTHER’S DAY’. THOUGH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO THANK A MOTHER FOR WHAT SHE DOES FOR US, AS A SMALL TOKEN OF OUR LOVE AND GRATITUDE,

 I SALLUTE ALL THE MOTHERS……

BECAUSE TODAY WHATEVER WE ARE, WHOEVER WE ARE, IS BECAUSE OF THEM. WITHOUT THEM WE ARE NOTHING.
